The
Friends of Presidio 640 is dedicated to the rehabilitation and
interpretation of Building 640 at the San Francisco Presidio,
origins of the 4th Army Military Intelligence Service (MIS)
Language School.
The first major goal of the Friends is to promote and
launch fundraising and Capital Campaign efforts for the preservation
and adaptive reuse of the building. Preliminary revised construction
costs, currently targeted for basic stabilization and reconstruction
of the building prior to other construction components, are
estimated at around $3 million.
As the Friends of Presidio 640 move forward, we will continue
our ongoing partnership with the National
Japanese American Historical Society (NJAHS), Presidio
Trust and National
Park Service, and other key organizations.
This site is currently under construction and will include additional
information about the Capital Campaign and the project in general.
A separate account for subsequent donations is being organized
for the Friends of Presidio 640.
